Jaipur:
Custom sleuths today seized about 1.2 kg of gold, worth Rs 36.5 lakh, from a passenger arriving in Jaipur at Sanganer International airport.
Mumtaz Ali, a resident of Kuchaman City of Nagaur district in Rajasthan, had alighted from Oman Airways flight from Dubai around 6:30 am.
"After preliminary interrogation, he was detained and his luggage was checked by the custom officials. During search, gold was found concealed at two different places in his luggage and in his jacket," Honhar Singh, Deputy Commissioner (Customs) at airport told PTI.
Customs officials found three gold necklaces, wrapped in carbon paper and packed in a box and six gold biscuits concealed in electric iron in the luggage, while four biscuits, wrapped in carbon paper, were hidden in the passenger's jacket, he said.
This is the first time that a person was found concealing gold at three different places, he added.
Ali, hails from Kuchaman City of Nagaur district and works in a printing press abroad, Mr Singh said.
