Jaipur: Police in Rajasthan have seized unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 70 lakh, liquor worth Rs 20 crore and registered 1,564 cases during the last one month since the model code of conduct (MCC) came into effect.
"13 jeeps, seven cars, two bikes, nine trucks used for transportation of liquor and other things were also seized in parts of Rajasthan," said Alok Tripathi, Additional Director General of Police-ATS and SOG.
11.15 kg smack, 38 kg opium, 480 gram brown sugar, 3,015 kg ganja, and 2,000 litre of spirit were also seized from different people, he said.
Altogether 600 flying-squad teams were deployed to maintain model code of conduct in the state, a spokesman said.
One magistrate, police official and a videographer were attached with each team, he added.
The Election Commission had on October 4 announced the schedule for Assembly polls in Rajasthan and four other states. The MCC came into effect after the announcement.
