Jaipur: The residents of 'Pink City' and visiting tourists are all set for a Metro train ride from June 2013, as authorities have stepped up work for the ambitious dream project, which will cost over Rs 10,000 crore.
"It is very likely that the residents of Jaipur would get their dream of Metro train realised by June 2013," said an official of the state urban development department.
The work of Jaipur Metro is to be completed in two phases. Of this, 55 per cent work on the first phase has been completed and the engineers are working hard to complete the remaining work of this phase.
There will be three underground and eight elevated stations in the first phase. The total expenditure on this phase of the project would be about Rs 3,149 crore.
There would be five underground and 15 elevated stations in the second phase.
The operation and maintenance of first phase would be carried by the newly-formed Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation.
According to official information, the state government has to acquire 50 hectare land for the project. Of this, the state government has already transferred 23.69 hectare land and the remaining 26.31 hectare land is soon to be identified and transferred.
