Jaipur: Students Allege Discrepancies in Rajasthan Pre Medical Test
Jaipur: Several students who took Rajasthan Pre Medical Test (RPMT) expressed their dissatisfaction yesterday with the marking methodology, alleging that the formula led to several discrepancies in the final result.

The examination authorities, however, refuted the allegation and insisted that the marking methodology was absolutely transparent.

The authorities also rejected any possibility of reviewing the final result.

The exam was conducted by Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) in six batches over three days from May 28 to May 30, and each batch got separate test paper.

"Equipercentile methodology was adopted for equating and ranking procedure and to decide the final ranking," exam coordinator D K Gupta told reporters.

"Each student was given a raw score after the exam and the answer sheet was uploaded on website on May 30. A total of 103 students submitted their objections regarding question papers. After review of the complaints, a revised answer key was uploaded on June 4.

"After that, 374 more candidates raised objections about the revised answer key which were also examined by the subject experts," he said.

A core committee then decided to remove incorrect questions and the final result was prepared as per equating system, Mr Gupta said.

The coordinator claimed that there was full transparency in the marking method and it involved no disparity.

On the other hand, few students and their parents raised objections on the final result claiming that the students who secured good marks were lacking behind in the final merit, while those with less score got a better ranking.

They protested in the RUHS campus today and threatened to go to the chief minister if university authorities fail to address their grievances.
