Jaipur: Ajit Singh Chaudhary had befriended the Japanese tourist at the Jal Mahal area of Jaipur - one of the city's major tourist spots - last Sunday when she was out sightseeing.
According to the police, the Japanese teenager agreed to visit some tourist spots with the accused, impressed with his English skills. Ajit allegedly took the tourist to a friend's place for tea and snacks and also introduced her to some family members.
Once he won her trust, he allegedly offered to her to her hotel at night. But instead, he took her to an isolated spot outside the city, about 50 kilometres away, and allegedly raped her.
After the crime, the Japanese tourist managed to get away, and raised an alarm. She was then helped by passers-by, who informed the police.
A 24-year-old man accused of raping a 19-year-old Japanese tourist earlier this week in Jaipur has been arrested by the city's police.
The accused, Ajit Singh Chaudhary, had escaped from the city after allegedly committing the crime, but surrendered before the police this morning.
The police had detained seven of his friends, some of whom reportedly helped him escape the city. Cops had also announced a Rs 1 lakh cash award for any information that leads to the accused's arrest.
