Jaipur: A low-intensity earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale was experienced at some areas in Jhunjhunu district of the state. Though no loss of life or property was reported after the tremors, three labourers were injured after a parapet of a well collapsed over them.

According to the Meteorological department, the tremor was of low intensity which occurred during the early morning of Wednesday at 5.27 am.

"There was no report concerning loss of human lives during the earthquake, however, in Nawalgarh three labourers were injured after a parapet of a well under which they were working collapsed. But it is yet to be ascertained whether this accident really took place when the tremors hit Nawalgarh," Mughda Sihna, district collector of Jhunjhunu, told DNA on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the geological and Met department said that some places in the northern and eastern parts of the state may witness tremors during the upcoming days, within a period of a fortnight.

"As the epicenter of this earthquake was at the north-eastern part of Rajasthan, there is a probability that during the coming fortnight some parts in the northern and eastern parts of the state may witness mild tremors," a Met expert said.
