Jaipur:
After helping millions of amputees walk again, Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Samiti, the makers of Jaipur Foot, have created artificial limbs for cows and will set up a special centre for such disabled animals in Jaipur.
"The centre will be the first of its kind in the country. It will provide artificial limbs to the four-legged animals," BMVSS founder DR Mehta said.
"The cows which were suffering because of loss of legs are now walking on the Jaipur Foot which has been developed by the technicians of the BMVSS centre at Jaipur," he told reporters in Jaipur on the first day of the international conference for protection of animals.
The trustee of Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisation (FIAPO) Anjoli Gopalan said that the three-day conference will generate a lot of goodwill and unite the animal welfare workers to achieve a common goal.
"The purpose of the conference is to introduce Indian animal protectionists to new ideas, to inspire and energise their work to provide a platform," Gopalan said.
Leading animal activists are participating in the three-day international conference, organised by the FIAPO in association with Animal Welfare Board of India, Dogs Trust UK and Compassion in World Farming, for protection of animals.
