Jaipur:
Senior state and Central officials have held a meeting to review preparations for the international textile and apparel fair 'Vastra-2012' slated to be held in Jaipur in November this year.
The fair is scheduled to take place from November 22 to 25 at Sitapura area near Jaipur.
'Vastra-2012' will be a comprehensive trade fair showcasing the best and latest in textiles, apart from providing market access and exposure to latest technologies, trends and fashion, an official release said.
During the meeting, progress made in nine industrial parks sanctioned for the state was also reviewed, it said, quoting Rajendra Bhanawat, Managing Director of Rajasthan state Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO).
Union Textile Secretary Kiran Dhingara, who attended the meeting, said the state has huge potential in the textile sector and therefore promotional activities and reviews should be conducted regularly in the state, the release said.
"The Centre has (already) sanctioned nine textile parks worth Rs 1500 crore which were also granted aid of Rs 400 crore under scheme for integrated textile parks by the textile ministry," it said, adding that besides development of power loom, hand loom and handicraft business was also focused in the meeting.
Rajasthan chief secretary C K Matthew said projects worth Rs 27,240 crore had been approved under Technology Upgradation Funds (TUF) Scheme in Rajasthan, which is 14 per cent of total investment in the sector across the country.
