Pratapgarh: 2 rape accused constables dismissed

Jaipur: The two constables, alleged to have raped a minor girl in police station building in Pratapgarh district on May 16, have been dismissed from the service, police said on Tuesday.

The orders to this effect were issued on Monday by Superintendent of Police, Pratapgarh, Praveen Kumar following a report against the accused Tej Singh and Pawan Kumar in which they were found guilty, police said.

The victim, who went missing two months ago, had been traced by the police and handed over to her parents few days before the incident, they said.

The accused constables approached the house of the girl and took her to the police station on the pretext of recording her statement, police said, adding that instead of going to the station, they took her to a quarter in the complex and allegedly gangraped her.

The incident had evoked violent protests from the locals in Choti Sadari area who torched several vehicles and pelted stones at the police prompting the cops to use force to control the unruly mob.
