Jaipur: A CBI team on Saturday recorded the statement of a 35-year-old woman who accused a former Rajasthan minister of raping her in Jaipur, sources said.
A case of rape was registered on September 17 against former minister of state for dairy and rural industries Babu Lal Nagar, who had to resign following the rape allegations.
"A CBI team had arrived in Jaipur two days ago. The team officials visited the woman's house today (Saturday) and recorded her statement for two hours," said a source close to the investigation.
The Ashok Gehlot-led Congress state government on September 21 recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe against former minister.
The CBI is likely to summon Nagar, against whom they registered a first information report Wednesday, for interrogation soon, sources said.
The woman's statement has been recorded before a magistrate in which she alleged that Nagar's relatives were threatening her and offering her money to withdraw the case.
Nagar represents the Dudu assembly constituency in Ajmer district.
