Jaipur:
Two engineers of state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have been arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a man for awarding work-related contracts, the CBI said.
The two men have been identified as Subhash Chandra Singh, Additional Chief Engineer (Electrical), Jodhpur & Jaipur and Sushil Sharma, Executive Engineer (Electrical), Kota.
"It was alleged that the Executive Engineer (Electrical), Kota, was demanding an illegal gratification from the complainant for himself and for the Additional Chief Engineer (Electrical), BSNL, Jodhpur, who was also holding charge of Jaipur for awarding contracts for three places, namely, Chittorgarh, Nimbaheda-Pratapgarh and Kankroli-Nathdwara," a CBI statement said.
"A trap was laid and the accused Executive Engineer (Electrical) was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 40000 from the complainant," the statement added.
Subsequently, Mr Singh was also caught red handed accepting Rs 40, 000 from his colleague, it added.
The searches at the residential premises of both the accused were conducted and Rs 6.5 lakh including some incriminating documents pertaining to the investment and movable/immovable properties were found. "Further investigation is under progress," the release said.
