Two engineering students jump in front of train, die

Jaipur: Two students of Stani Memorial College of Engineering and Technology, Phagi, committed suicide by jumping in front of a goods train at Tonk Phatak on Monday afternoon.

The students were identified as Hemlata Meena, 18, a resident of Tonk Phatak, and Krishna Kumar Tak, 19, a resident of Shastri Nagar. The duo were romantically involved with each other for about a year, sources said.

Police said that prima facie, the case appears to be that of suicide but they have not recovered any suicide note. "The deceased were identified from their college identity cards and mobile phones, which were recovered from the spot," police said.

Despite the train driver spotting the duo and applying brakes, Hemlata died on the spot while Krishna, who was rushed to SMS Hospital was pronounced 'brought dead'.  Bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families after post-mortem. A case has been registered by the railway police.
