Jaipur: A 65-year-old tribal woman in Rajasthan's Udaipur district was allegedly branded a witch by her neighbours and beaten up.

A first information report (FIR) has been registered against four neighbours on the basis of the complaint of Ganga Devi, the victim, a resident of Bhudar village near Rishabhdev town in Udaipur, some 300 km from Jaipur, said police.

"Ganga Devi says that she was sleeping Friday night when four neighbours barged into her house Friday night and started abusing her. They claimed that she was a witch and was casting evil spells on others in the village," said a police officer.

In her statement, Ganga Devi alleged that she was tied to the bed and beaten up. "She says that her neighbours threatened to kill her if she did not leave the village soon," the officer added.

"It seems the neighbours want to grab her property. We have registered the case against the four men," said the officer.
