Jaipur: A 32-year old woman allegedly committed suicide by throwing herself into a well in Rajasthan's Ajmer district along with her two sons aged 6 and 8 years, police said on Friday.
According to police, the bodies of the three were found floating in the well around 2 am on Thursday in Hathikhera village of the district, some 150 km from Jaipur.
"The woman Sampatti Devi had lost her husband about five years ago. Her two sons, 8-year old Aryan and 6-year old Piyush, returned from school on Thursday afternoon. The woman was spotted by her neighbours till late evening," said a police officer.
"During preliminary investigation, it has been learnt that the woman took her two children to a well in a nearby farm after midnight and jumped into it with them. She had gagged the children using a piece of cloth before throwing them into the well," said a police officer.
Police recovered a suicide note from her house in the village.
"In the note, she has stated that she was unable to survive without her husband, and hence, was taking this step. She has also said that nobody should be bothered for her act," said the officer
