Emergency landing at Jammu after smoke detected in engine

Jammu: More than 160 passengers and crew of an Indigo flight had a fortunate escape when their aircraft made an emergency landing at Jammu airport on Wednesday.

According to sources at the airport, the flight was coming from Delhi and reached Jammu at 9 am. Plumes of smoke were detected in one of its engine at the time of landing. The pilots manoeuvred to bring the aircraft to ground with much difficulty.

All the passengers were evacuated safely.

The flight had a total of 166 passengers on board. 43 passengers got down at Jammu, and the rest of the 123 Srinagar bound passengers are still stranded at the Jammu airport.
