Lohri celebrations go traditional in Jammu

Jammu: As India celebrates Lohri today, it's the old-style of celebrations in Jammu, with kids hopping from house to house for gifts.

''We go from house to house for Lohri gifts. We get money and gifts from everybody,'' says Priyanka, a Jammu student.

Whether it's civilian areas of Jammu or the high-security border, the festivities around Lohri leave no soul untouched.

''We miss our families, but people here give us company. They don't let us feel lonely,'' says Rajinder Kumar, a BSF Jawan.

Jammu is immersed in the colours of Lohri. This year the winter has been particularly harsh. People hope the festival would mark an end to that.
