Monkey menace continues at the Jammu Medical College Hospital

Monkey menace continues at the Jammu Medical College Hospital
Jammu: Two weeks after NDTV first reported the story of monkeys strutting inside Jammu's Government Medical College Hospital, nothing seems to have changed on the ground. Mobile footage shot inside the premises show how even today monkeys roam about freely, often scaring away patients.

So, from napping inside the emergency ward, to resting in the rooms of the Regional Cancer Centre and roaming around the CT scan clinics, the monkeys seem to be doing it all.

Ironically, after NDTV reported the menace, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had promised action and directed Health Education Minister to look into the matter. "I am shocked by the images of the monkey in a Jammu hospital. Before I say anything I owe it to my Minister to first ask him to explain," Omar Abdullah had tweeted back then.

But on the ground, there are just a few stickers asking people not to feed monkeys. A few employees of the State wildlife department visited the hospital yesterday and pasted it around. But more than just a few stickers would be needed to drive the monkey menace away.
