Jammu: Over 9,000 kg of banned polythene bags were seized on Sunday by police and State Excise and Taxation department officials after they intercepted a truck carrying the consignment in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district.
In a joint operation, the officials intercepted the truck while it was transporting 9,300 kg of polythene bags into the state from Delhi through Lakhanpur inter-state checkpost, Deputy Commissioner, Excise and Taxation department, Mustaq Ahmed said.
The polythene bags were hidden under other articles, he said, adding, the truck driver has been detained for further investigations.
