Jammu:
With Jammu reeling under power crisis, people in several areas resorted to demonstrations and burnt effigies of the government against unscheduled power cuts.
Over 300 protesters assembled on Jammu-Poonch highway in Domana area against unscheduled power cuts, which they claimed last 10 to 12 hours at a stretch.
Raising anti-government and anti-power ministry slogans, protestors blocked the highway for three hours by burning tyres and effigies of the state government.
The protesters could be pacified only after the intervention of the police.
In another demonstration in Suchetgarh border belt of Jammu, protesters, including women and children, burnt an effigy of the state government.
A demonstration was also held in Bantalab against the power department.
