Jammu:
Two students were arrested after clashes broke out between student groups at Jammu University on Friday.
The university rusticated two students, suspended four girl students and banned entry of five others involved in the violence.
A Sanskrit teacher was injured in the clashes, officials said. He received multiple injuries and was shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital, they said.
According to reports, a group of students had locked the main gate of the university during protest to demand setting up of centre for Gojri studies. The clash began when other students failed to enter the premises due to a locked gate.
The university has ordered an inquiry into the incident, spokesman Vinay Thusoo said.
