Diwali 2017: 5 Ideas To Celebrate Green Diwali At Workplace

New Delhi: Diwali is round the corner. It is not just a festival and Diwali celebrations are a great opportunity for companies and organizations to engage with employees. However, with the festive spirit there is also the looming concern about environment. But, not dampening the spirit, organizations can still celebrate a green and clean Diwali while indulging employees in some fun activities. Celebrating a fun-filled green Diwali will not only help employees relax but will also help them connect with the company and their colleagues.

Here are five ways in which you can organize a Diwali party at your workplace or organization for the employees:

1. Ethnic Day: Most organizations follow a strict dress code for the employees and even where dress codes are not followed, employees usually choose to wear western attire. Diwali party can be an occasion where employees can come decked up in their best ethnic attire. You can also organize a best-dressed competition in office.

2. Rangoli Competition: Organize a rangoli competition and make teams comprising the most unlikeliest members. Group people who rarely get to interact with each other. This way not only employees participate in a fun activity but will also get to interact with people from other teams. Also, resort to either rice grains or flower petals and leaves to make rangolis thus making it environment friendly.

3. Painting and Lighting Diyas: Switch to hand painted diyas this year and use organic oil to light them up. You can also organize a diya painting competition for the employees.

4. Cleanliness Drive: One thing that we associate with Diwali is cleaning our houses before Diwali. Continuing the tradition, you can organize a cleanliness drive for a location nearby. This will not only fall in line with the tradition of the festival but will also inspire a sense of responsibility toward community.

5. Replace Crackers with Balloons: This Diwali, fill balloons with glitter, small pieces of bright colored papers and toffees and spend a fun-filled evening bursting them. You can also turn it into a fun event by teaming up people and setting a time limit in which the team to burst most number of balloons will win.
