After months of anticipation, RRBs, today, released result for the computer-based test it conducted for recruitment on Group D posts. In February, last year, the recruitment board had announced over 62,000 Group D or Level 1 posts. The recruitment process, which was tentatively scheduled in April, May 2018 and was delayed on accounts of multiple factors, finally began in September and concluded on December 2018.

Indian Railway had advertised 62,907 vacancies and in response had received application from more than 1.8 crore eligible candidates. Out of these, 1.17 crore appeared for the examination.

"Based on the merit of the candidates in the CBT, candidates shall be called for PET Two times the community wise total vacancy of the Posts notified against RRBs," said the Indian Railway recruitment advertisement.

Based on this selection criteria only above 1% of candidates are said to have qualified for the next round of selection process. The exact number of candidates selected will be clear after some time.

The result was released simultaneously on all participating RRB websites. Out of the 20 RRBs, Group D vacancies were available with 16 RRBs.

Now, the recruitment boards will prepare for Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Unlike recruitment process for Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician, the selection process for Group D posts included only one computer-based test.
