New Delhi: State Bank of India (SBI) will conduct the Preliminary Exam for selection of Probationary Officers (PO) in the last week of April and first week of May. The exam will be conducted in online mode and will comprise of three sections. One of the three sections is Quantitative Aptitude which is also often considered as the toughest sections. Quantitative Aptitude is not as tough as its reputation and if prepared in the right manner it can fetch you good marks. In this article we will discuss the preparation strategy for Quantitative Aptitude section for SBI PO Preliminary Exam.
Quantitative Aptitude Pattern and Syllabus
There are 35 questions in this section in the prelims exam and each question carries 1 mark. There is also a negative marking of one-fourth of the total marks allotted to a question in case of a wrong answer. The syllabus for Quantitative Aptitude section mainly consists of topics from the Mathematics syllabus till class 10. The main topics from which questions are asked in this section are:

Here are some tips to follow while preparing for SBI PO Prelims Quantitative Aptitude section:
Brush up the basics: Brushing up the basics mean revise all the simple formulas and theorems related to the topics mentioned above. It's not a tough thing to do and if done right you will be finished with it in a few days.
Practice question from each topic: Practice all types of questions from a topic that is easy, moderate and difficult. Do not focus only on solving difficult questions. Sometimes people make blundering mistakes in the easiest questions.
Solve mock tests: Mock tests should be an important part of your preparation strategy. Solve online mock tests and sample papers both.
Previous year question papers: Go through previous year question papers and mark which topics or types of questions are repeated often. While solve all types of questions but pay more attention to questions and topics which have a history of being repeated.
Learn shortcut tricks: Shortcut tricks to solve a question will help you a lot during the exam. Time management is the key to score more in the exam. So the shortcut tricks will help you get through more number of questions in less time.
