New Delhi: Uncertainty is hovering over Assistant Professor recruitment in Govt. Arts & Science Colleges as Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board (TN TRB) has not given any official update in this regard. While the annual recruitment planner released by the Board says final result will be declared in October 2017; the Board has not started online registration for the recruitment. As per the planner, TN TRB is ought to recruit 1883 candidates for the post of Assistant Professor in Govt. Arts & Science Colleges.
The notification was supposed to be released in 4th week of July. Though the Board has put a disclaimer saying, 'The above schedule is a tentative programme to be followed by the Teachers Recruitment Board. This is only for information to the candidates to get prepared for the examination,' gap of more than two months is sure to make job aspirants anxious.
"In this academic year, at least 268 new courses were introduced in around 60 colleges, and eight new colleges were opened. A majority of them do not have teachers and the first semester is about to end now. The vacancies had become more than 2,600 now, with retirements, establishment of more colleges and introduction of new courses,' said R. Dhamotharan, general secretary, Tamil Nadu Government College Teachers' Association (TNGCTA) to The Hindu.
Faculty vacancies are affecting education quality in close to 100 colleges in the State.
Recently, the Board had conducted preliminary examination for Special Teachers post. The exam was held on 23 September 2017. Answer keys for the same have not been released yet. The Board will allow candidates to raise objections to the provisional answer key.
