Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has now recommended 109 candidates for recruitment to remaining posts based on the
Civil Services Exam 2016, final results of which was declared on 31 May 2017. The Commission had earlier recommended 1099 candidates in order of merit for appointment to IAS, IFS, IPS and Central Services Group 'A' and Group 'B' against 1209 vacancies.
Nandini KR topped the prestigious exam, CSE 2016. Including the topper, three female candidates found their place in top ten, Saumya Pandey (4th rank) and Shweta Chauhan (7th rank) are other candidates.
'As sought by the Department of Personnel & Training, the Commission has now recommended 109 candidates which include 87 General, 19 OBC, 01 SC and 02 ST, to fill up the remaining posts based on the Civil Services Examination, 2016. Particulars of these candidates are included herewith. The candidates so recommended will be intimated directly by the DOP&T,' reads the official update.
In the CSE 2016 final result 500 students qualified in general category while 347 candidates were selected in OBC category. 163 and 89 candidates were selected in SC and ST categories respectively. Over 11.36 lakhs civil services aspirants had registered for the preliminary exam which was conducted in August last year.
UPSC CSE 2017 prelims was held in June and the main exam was held in October.
In another news, Varun Gandhi has extended his support for the
CSAT 2011-2015 candidates who have been demanding for a compensatory prelims. Requesting the exam conducting body, UPSC, for a compensatory preliminary exam for the aspirants Varun Gandhi has urged the Commission to give them a fair chance.
