Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist exam will begin from June 28. Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), the exam conducting body, has released the details of the exam. This year, the Commission has notified 106 vacancies in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines and Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources. Vacancies are available in Group A posts-Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist and Junior Hydrogeologist. While the upper age limit for all posts is 32 years, for the Junior Hydrogeologist post the upper age limit is 35 years.
Candidates availing the EWS reservation can submit Income and Asset Certificate while filing the detailed application form. "Since reservation for EWS category candidates has been notified recently, therefore this extension for submission of certificate for EWS category candidates is a one time relaxation applicable for Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination, 2019 only," said the Commission.
The application fee for the exam is Rs 200. However the SC/ ST/ female/ persons with benchmark disability candidates are exempted from the fee.
In the exam, the Commission may provide Mathematical/ Physical, Chemical and Engineering Tables, Steam table, National Building Code of India 1970 or 1983 Group 2 Part VI or other such special articles to the candidates if it is necessary for answering the questions.
The last date for submission of applications is April 16. The online UPSC portal will close at 6 pm on the last date.
