Kanpur:
An 11-year-old boy died today after allegedly trying to perform a 'hanging stunt' in the Kalyanpur area of the district, police said.
The incident happened when Vikas's family members were not at home. In an apparent act of performing a stunt, he hanged himself from the hook of a ceiling fan in his house, after he saw something on television, said the police.
Rakshpal, the father of the deceased, was keeping ill and was admitted to a hospital. The other family members were also in the hospital at the time of the incident.
When the family members returned, they found Vikas's body hanging from the ceiling hook. They rushed him to a hospital where he was declared dead.
The police said they are investigating the matter.
In a separate incident in the city, a 24-year-old girl committed suicide in the Fhilkhana area last night. She was reportedly depressed over her two-year-long illness, police said.
The incident happened when Sapna, daughter of Ramnarayan Sharma, was alone at her residence.
