A 20-year-old man was found dead in a field outside Satvari village in Kanpur, police said today.
The body of Deepak, a BA student, was yesterday found in the field with injury marks on head and neck caused by a sharp-edged weapon, a police spokesperson said.
A pair of scissors drenched in blood was found near the body, he said.
According to the postmortem report, Deepak was first strangulated and then stabbed several times with the pair of scissors, the spokesperson said.
On questioning his family members, police came to know that Sukhram, the victim's friend, had yesterday called Deepak to meet near the field where he was later found murdered.
On suspicion, police took Suhkram and one of his friends in custody for questioning.
Some money-related dispute was going on between Deepak and Sukhram, police claimed.
Police are scrutinising Deepak's call details to ascertain who he last spoke to, the spokesperson said, adding a probe is on in the matter.
