Kanpur: At least four people have died and 17 have been rescued after an under-construction building collapsed in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. Many are still feared trapped under the debris, a senior official said.
Nearly 29 people, including women and children, are feared trapped under the rubble of the six-floor building that collapsed on Wednesday, reported news agency IANS, quoting a police official.
The building, located in the city's Jajmau area, was owned by Samajwadi Party leader Mehtaab Aalam, the official said.
Additional Director General of Police Daljeet Chowdhary told IANS: "People pulled out of the debris are critically injured."
National Disaster Response Team and the army are carrying out rescue operations, the official said.
