Kanpur:
A day after NDTV first revealed a shocking video of a Congress MP from Porbandar in Gujarat threatening toll booth staff with a gun, another instance of political arrogance has emerged. Virat Bhadauria, who is the vice-president of the Uttar Pradesh youth wing of the BJP, allegedly shot at a waiter in a Kanpur hotel yesterday because he had not been served food inside his car.
Virat, who was allegedly drunk, fled after the incident, but was later arrested.
"Those people came in a car and were moving to and fro in it asking for food. We refused to serve them food in the car. They fired from the car. The bullet hit a guy who was standing here. They went away shouting that his name was Virat. We did not notice any flag but there was a hooter on the car and 'Virat' was written on the back of the car. The boy who was hit, his name is Vijay. He works just here. Those people were drunk," said Rahul Dikshit, the owner of the hotel, who was an eye-witness to the incident.
President of the BJP Yuva Morcha Anurag Thakur told NDTV today that the party will take strong action.
"Once we get all the details, the BJP will take a strong action against the accused. I assure you strict action will be taken," said Mr Thakur.
