At least eight youths drowned in two separate incidents while bathing in the Ganga river after taking part in the Holi revelry here in the city today.
A group of five boys went to bathe in the river near Ganga barrage bridge in Nawabganj area after Holi celebrations, SP (rural) Manoj Sonkar said.
Rishab (16), Sohit (16), Mohit (18), Gaurav (16) and Vinay (20) drowned in the incident, the officer said adding there bodies have been fished out.
In another incident, Dinesh (26), Anshu (25) and Mohit (24) drowned when they were bathing in the river near Bithore area of the city after Holi celeberation in the evening, he said.
Two bodies were recovered but one is still missing, he said, adding divers are trying to retrieve the body.
