Kanpur:
A 22-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide after she was rebuked by her father in Nawabganj area in Kanpur, police said.
Shilpa, daughter of grocer Mahesh, was found hanging from a fan in her room yesterday.
According to police, Mahesh scolded his daughter for getting up late from the bed in the morning, miffed over which the victim took the extreme step.
Police is investigating the matter and have taken Mahesh and his wife in custody for questioning.
In another part of the city, a security guard allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan in the Panki area in Kanpur.
Hariram Singh, 28, a native of Balia has been working as a security guard in the Panki Power House and was staying in a rented accommodation nearby, police said.
Hariram's family has been informed and investigation is going on, they said.
