Kanpur:
IIT Kanpur will oversee the four monitoring centres that will be established to keep a tab on the air pollution level in the city, officials said today.
The monitoring centres to be set-up by the Pollution Control Board here will be established in four corners of the city and start operations from February. Rs 10 lakhs per year will paid to the IIT for its services, they said.
"These centres will be established somewhere in Jajmau, Yashodanagar, Nawabganj, and Dadanagar area of the city," Regional Officer Radhe Shyam said here.
Equipment would be made available by PCB and technical assistance will be extended by IIT, he said, adding after checking for particles in the air PCB would decide on ways to curb the pollution.
