Kanpur: A 17-year-old student died on the spot after a two-wheeler he was riding was hit by a loaded truck in Chaubepur area in Kanpur, police said today.
The victim Abhishek, a class 12 student is a resident of Viroha area.
The incident took place yesterday when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a truck carrying bricks, near a tempo stand, a police spokesman said.
Agitated over the incident, the local residents descended on to the scene of the crime and vent their anger by pelting stones and even attempted to torch the truck, they said.
Police later pacified the irate crowd.
The accused driver has been arrested and a case has been registered against him.
Body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem and further investigations are on, police said.
