Kanpur:
Amid widespread demand for more measures to ensure safety of women, the Kanpur police have arrested 14 persons from various public places across the city during its drive against eve-teasing and harassment of women.
While eight persons were arrested from Motijheel Park, three each were nabbed from Z-Square Mall and DAV college during the drive launched on Wednesday, said SSP Yashaswi Yadav.
"The drive has been initiated to keep a tab on cases of eve-teasing and harassment of women. We are focusing on eight police stations which have received highest number of such complaints," Yadav said.
Women police personnel in plain clothes have been deployed outside malls, parks, schools and women colleges and they remain in contact with police teams, he added.
The SSP, however, clarified no harassment of couples will be allowed in the name of this drive, as only those who are indulged in eve-teasing are under police radar.
