Kanpur:
A truck driver was shot dead allegedly by some persons who wanted to loot the vehicle in the Bidhnu area in Kanpur, police said today.
Hanumant Singh (45) was found murdered in his truck last night by his family members who went looking for him after he did not reach home yesterday, police said.
Singh's body was lying in the truck that was found stuck in slush in the Madhav Bagh area, they said.
According to preliminary investigation, the killers murdered Singh with an intention to loot the truck but could not succeed in their plan as the vehicle got stuck in slush due to heavy rainfall, they said.
The case is being investigated and Singh's family members are being questioned, police said
