Kanpur: A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in a Gurudwara building in Gumti locality in Kanpur, police said today.
The body of a 38-year-old woman, Paramjit Kaur, was recovered lying in a pool of blood in a room in the Gumti Gurudwara building, the police spokesman said.
Paramjit along with her 15-year-old daughter, Dilpreet was living at her mother's house in the Gumti Gurudwara building since last six months, said police.
When Dilpreet found her mother's room locked from outside, she tried calling his father whose mobile phone was switched off. After repetitive knocks at the room door when there was no response, police broke the door open and recovered the body, they said.
A pair of scissors has been recovered from the spot which suggests that she was murdered, police said.
The victim's husband Jaspal Singh, who works in a factory, is absconding and his phone is switched off, raising suspicion of his involvement in the murder, police said.
The body has been sent for post mortem and police is further investigating the issue. The forensic team has also surveyed the spot and has gathered few evidences, they said.
