Kanpur : President Pranab Mukherjee will address a convocation ceremony of a reputed medical college in Kanpur on May 10.
"Mukherjee will attend as the chief guest at the fourth convocation ceremony of the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College," Principal of the college Dr Navneet Kumar told reporters.
He said that the President's office had faxed them his decision to attend the ceremony.
This is Mukherjee's first visit to the city since he assumed office as President.
The chief minister and governor of Uttar Pradesh, too, have been invited to attend the ceremony but they were yet to confirm their participation, Mr Kumar added.
