Kanpur: A woman was allegedly raped for a period of four years by a person, who had recorded the crime on a mobile phone and threatened to circulate it as an MMS, police said on Wednesday.
Following the complaint made by the victim, a case was registered against one Pranjul Awasthi at Naubasta police station on Tuesday, a police spokesman said.
According to the complaint, Pranjul first lured the victim with the promise to marry her and then raped her after offering her drink laced with sedatives.
The complainant claimed that he had recorded the crime and threatened her to circulate it as an MMS.
The alleged person works in Haryana and efforts are being made to arrest him at the earliest, the spokesman said.
