Bellary:
All preparations are in place for the counting of votes for the Bellary byelection that was held on November 30. Counting will begin at 8 am in the Government Polytechnic College, here, on December 4.
Addressing the media along with SP Dr Chandragupta on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner A A Biswas said that 18 rounds of counting will take place. The result is expected to be announced by noon, he said.
As many as 62 staff, including officials from Chitradurga district, will take part in the counting of votes, who have received training in this regard, he detailed.
Adding that the overall polling percentage for the byelection was 71.65 per cent Biswas revealed that urban and rural areas in the constituency recorded voting percentages of 80.55 and 58.53 per cent respectively.
The electronic voting machines (EVMs) used in the Bellary Rural Assembly byelection have been stored in the strong room set up at the Government Polytechnic here.
