A Maruti Esteem car was charred after it caught fire accidentally near the official residence of Karnataka Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Kumara Krupa Road.
According to the police, the car was coming from Windsor Manor Junction towards Shivananda Circle and the driver noticed smoke coming out from the car's bonnet. He stopped the car and fled the scene without informing the police or Fire Department.
Though a few policemen tried to douse the fire, they did not succeed. Later, a fire tender was rushed to the spot. High Grounds police have registered a case in this connection.
