Ullal, Karnataka:
On camera, a group of men can be seen attacking two others with machetes. The horrific assault was captured last night by security cameras located on a busy street in Mangaluru.
One of the men attacked, identified as Zubair, has died of his injuries. The other, Illyaz, is badly hurt but is not in critical condition.
The BJP in Karnataka says the victims were its workers. "They have been our workers for the last 10 years. We don't want to do politics in death. But the anti-social elements who are suspected to have attacked them have been emboldened after the local MLA's lack of action", said Rahim Uchil, a senior leader with the BJP's minority wing in the state.
