Bangalore: The city traffic police today bagged the Golden Peacock awards for adopting innovative technology through 'B-TRAC' project.
The award instituted by the Institute of Directors (IOD), was received by City Police Commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji and M A Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Bangalore City during the "22nd World Congress on Total Quality" summit here , a press release from the police department said.
The components of B-TRAC include Installation of 179 surveillance cameras to monitor Traffic movement, and establishment of state-of-art traffic management centres to supervise and manage traffic flow in Bangalore City.
Apart from the above components of B-TRAC, citizen friendly initiatives like creation of Citizens forum, Web based interaction with citizens, innovative traffic circulation plans and establishment of Pre-fixed Auto stands were also considered for award.
