Bangalore:
Karnataka High Court will continue its dictation of orders on the writ petitions filed by state government and Director General of Police (DGP) and Inspector General of Police (IGP) SM Bidari challenging the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) order, quashing his appointment as Karnataka DGP and IGP.
A Division Bench, headed by Justice N Kumar, who commenced the dictation of the verdict on the petitions earlier on Thursday, will continue its dictation today.
Mr Bidari was drawn into a legal battle after DG (Home Guards and Fire Services) A R Infant filed an application before CAT seeking quashing of the DGP's appointment contending that his seniority was overlooked.
On March 16, CAT set aside Mr Bidari's appointment as DGP and IGP Karnataka and ruled that Infant should be appointed ad hoc police chief till the government decides on the new appointment.
The CAT, in its order, said the government should prepare a fresh list of senior Indian Police Services (IPS) officers and send it to the Union Public Service Commission which will suggest three names for the top post.
