Bengaluru:
A BJP delegation met the Karnataka governor Vajubhai Vala today demanding the sacking of social welfare minister H Anjaneya after his wife allegedly accepted a bribe.
A local TV news channel had telecast visuals which they claimed was a sting operation showing Anjaneya's wife allegedly accepting a bribe. The minister has denied the charges.
BJP state president, Prahlad Joshi, who led the delegation to the Governor said, "We have explained to the honourable governor about the incident which has taken place in social justice department under Anjaneya's direction or guidance only."
"Whatever has happened, it has happened with full knowledge of minister Anjaneya and everything is visible in the video clippings. In spite of that, CM is telling he is going for all the details. I don't know what details honourable CM needs," he said.
"That is why we requested Governor to intervene and issue a direction to the CM to drop Mr. Anjaneya immediately. Because everything is visible and whatever has happened, it has happened in the social justice department through that department," Mr Joshi said.
On Thursday, Suvarna TV began telecasting a clipping of Vijayalakshmni, the wife of the Congress minister, which they claimed showed her taking a bribe of Rs 7 lakhs in cash in connection with tenders for hostels that are covered by her husband's ministry.
