Bengaluru: Yes, she has resigned, but no, she did not post the status that went viral, says Karnataka cop Anupama Shenoy, who shot to fame after a Facebook post that said, "resigned and jobless."
Ms Shenoy, who had been unavailable not just to the media but also to her colleagues in the police, surfaced today and told reporters that she has no Facebook account.
"I have submitted my resignation. I don't have a Facebook account. I don't know what Facebook is," she said in Bellari, not far from Kudligi where she was posted as a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
When reporters pointed to the Facebook account they have been referring to, Ms Shenoy laughed as she said, "No, no, it is a fake Facebook account, not mine, someone must have hacked it." Ms Shenoy said she has resigned for "personal reasons."
With Anupama Shenoy M.I.A. and posts appearing regularly on the Facebook page she disowned today, opposition parties have targeted Karnataka's labour minister PT Parmeshwar Nayak, accusing him of putting political pressure on the officer. Mr Nayak - who was in February caught on camera boasting about how he had Ms Shenoy transferred because she had put his phone call on hold - has said he has played no part in the latest development.
"I have no connection with her resignation. That is a personal issue. I have played no part in it. I am not connected at all," the minister said.

"I think her commitment her efficiency became a hurdle for minister PT Parmeshwar Nayak," said senior BJP leader Suresh Kumar.
Former Prime Minister, HD Deve Gowda of the Janata Dal Secular said, "This Anupama Shenoy resigns - did any senior officer call her 'We are with you, don't be disheartened...' I'm sorry the political atmosphere is so much downgraded and for earnest officers there is no place in this government."
