Mysore:
A man who strangled to death his younger college lecturer sister at her residence on March 13 for defying her family and marrying a lower caste person has been arrested, police said.
"Mahadev, who was absconding since the murder, was finally arrested and will be produced before a local court," Police Commissioner K L Sudhir said.
Twenty seven-year-old Smruthi, a government college lecturer, was strangled to death by Mahadev at herresidence on the night of March 13. Her room mate found her body on her return from Kochi.
Sudeep, Smruthi's husband, is a Dalit.
This is the second suspected honour killing in Karnataka after the incident at Maddur, where a girl was killed by herfamily members for declaring her love for a lower caste boy.
All the family members have already been arrested.
