A mobile phone camera was found taking photos, making videos in a ladies' toilet in Mangalore University.
A phone camera was found in a girls hostel in Mangalore University, with images and videos of students. The police is currently investigating the case and has sent the images and clips for verification to a cyber crime team in Bengaluru.
"A mobile camera was found in a ladies' toilet in Mangalore University, following which the video clippings and images captured by it have been sent to the Bengaluru Cyber Crime Branch for further investigation," police said.
The camera was spotted by a student in the girls hostel toilet on August 24. Investigations revealed that two clippings of 15 and 30 minutes duration and images from the camera were transmitted on August 7 and 11, police said.
The issue came to light when it came up for discussion at the university syndicate meeting on August 31.
Three students and some staff members have so far been questioned in connection with the case, police said, adding that they are waiting for the report from the Bengaluru Cyber Crime cell, which is expected in a week's time.
