Mangalore:
Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said on Sunday that the state would get a new Lokayukta in the next 15 days.
"The process of consultation for the appointment of Lokayukta will be completed in next 15 days, "he told reporters here.
Gowda said he has written to the Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Justice Vikramjit Sen and leaders of the opposition in both houses of state legislature, Siddaramaiah and Motamma.
Karnataka is also witnessing a standoff between the BJP Government and the Governor on the appointment of Lokayukta, leaving the post vacant for the last five months.
The Government has recommended the name of former Kerala High Court Chief Justice S R Bannurmath as Lokayukta, but it has been rejected by Bhardwaj, who is insisting on a 'spotless' person for the post in the wake of some charges against him relating to securing land allotment in violation of rules.
Gowda also said that the government proposed to introduce a policy on youth in the assembly this year.
