The Karnataka government's 'black border' gazette published to announce the death of former minister V S Acharya does not mention his name, but only the portfolios held by him.
As Acharya was member of the Council of ministry led by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, the cabinet met and mourned the minister's demise, passed a condolence resolution and placed on record the service rendered by him to the state.
It is normal practice for the government to bring out a black border gazette, announcing the death of the minister. However, the special gazette, which would be an archival document, says "Minister for Higher Education, IT-BT, Institutional Finance, Planning and Muzrai passed away at 1302 hours".
The gazette also mentions that a two-day mourning has been declared in honour of Acharya as against three-day mourning announced by the government.
Officials of the concerned department were not available for comment to explain how this glaring error crept into the gazette publication.
